Children and Youth

Work with children and young people happens in all shapes and sizes around our District. This could be one or two in your congregation, a group alongside a service, a Messy Church, youth group, uniformed organisations, work in schools or something else. All of this work is really valued! Maybe you have ideas about how you might start some work with children and young people in your community or develop what you already have. I’d be more than happy to have a conversation with you to help in your thinking and journeying. Get in touch with Charlotte, our Youth Engagement Coordinator, below.

Launched with a residential of retreat and rest, sharing and relevant training in September 2026, this community of networking, learning and good practice will meet termly with a mixture of online and ‘in the room’ gatherings. If you are working with children and young people and would like to meet others to share ideas, learn together and take some time to reflect you would be very welcome.

Intergenerational

Intergenerational work is work that includes two or more different generations. It doesn’t necessarily need to involve children and young people although it might do in your setting. Have a look at this introduction to generational theory: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zf8j92p

Intergenerational worship has a key focus on exploring together and learning from each other. This could be as simple as including intentional conversation into your regular Sunday worship or thinking more creatively about what worship in your community might look like to include everyone. If this is something that you would like to explore for your community, I’d love to have a chat with you! Contact Charlotte here.
